Disabled Veterans' Outreach Program

Disabled Veterans' Outreach Program (external link) (DVOP) specialists develop job and training opportunities for veterans, with special emphasis on veterans with service-connected disabilities. DVOP specialists provide direct services to veterans enabling them to be competitive in the labor market. They provide outreach and offer assistance to disabled and other veterans by promoting community and employer support for employment and training opportunities, including apprenticeship and on-the-job training. Hire Vets First

A Department of Labor program, the mission for Hire Vets First (external link) is to provide veterans and transitioning Service Members with the resources and services to succeed in the 21st century workforce by maximizing their employment opportunities, protecting their employment rights and meeting labor-market demands with qualified veterans today.

Troops to Teachers

Troops to Teachers (external link) is a joint venture between the Department of Education and the Department of Defense to help eligible military personnel begin a new career as teachers in public schools where their skills, knowledge and experience are most needed.
  • Offers help using Tuition Assistance Program money to obtain education licenses and credentials.
