For Communities and Individuals

For a list of more organizations that help click here (external link).

There are many things that you, as an individual member of the community or a small group can do to help support deployed Sevice Members and their families.:

Dear American Hero - The mission of Dear American Hero (external link) is to recognize the Service and Dedication of our Men and Women in uniform from the past or the present for all they have done to secure our Freedom. The card was designed to be easily carried during our daily lives so when we would come upon one of America's Heroes we would have an effective heartfelt way to say "Thank You." The new Family Thank You card has provided a way for us to recognize the Sacrifices that the Families make everyday for our American way of life. Visit the website link above to see how you can make a donation to this Federal 501 (C)(3) non-profit organization. 100% of donations are turned into more cards and used to ship more cards.

Gold Star Mothers - Gold Star Mothers (external link) is an organization of mothers whose sons or daughters served and died that this world might be a better place in which to live. If you're a member of the public, we participate in many memorial events around the country and you're welcome to join us. If you've lost your child and would like the community of others in your situation, we invite you to join us. No one knows how you feel like another mother who has lost a child.

Minnesota's First Lady's Initiative - Because it is much easier for families of deployed Service Members to cope with the difficult changes that deployments bring, the Minnesota's First Lady's Family Care Initiative (external link) was established to show that communities are there to help care for and support them.

Minnesota Patriot Guard- The Minnesota Patriot Guard (external link) is a diverse group of riders and individuals with one thing in common: we all have tremendous respect for those who risk their lives every day, whether on American soil or abroad, in securing our nation's freedoms and liberties. We encourage those who share this respect to join us in support of all those who have served. Minnesota Patriot Guard welcomes those who do not ride motorcycles, those who are not veterans, and those who come from different states. They only require Respect.

Yellow Ribbon Communities- The Minnesota National Guard's Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Community Outreach Team (external link) rallies community support for our nation's finest, through training seminars. These training seminars are free of charge and will help inform, equip and empower community leaders and professionals to sychronize their efforts to best serve Veterans and their families.
