Eligibility for TRICARE is determined by the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS). The Service Member must be on continuous Active Duty orders for 31 consecutive days or more, and is responsible for keeping the information in DEERS updated with their personal, dependent and Active Duty order infomration. For information on TRICARE, please call the TRICARE West office at 1-888-874-9378 or the J1 Medical office at 651-268-8846/8841.

Transitional Assistance Management Program (TAMP)

TAMP requires enrollment and lasts for 180 days after returning from deployment. To be eligible, the Service Member must have served at least 90 days on Active Duty orders in support of a Contingency Operation. Enrollment is required for the TAMP program.

TRICARE Reserve Select (TRS)

TRS is a premium-based health plan that qualified National Guard and Reserve members may purchase. TRS, which requires a monthly premium, offers coverage similar to TRICARE Standard and Extra. For additional information, visit the TRS Web site (external link).

TRICARE Dental Program (TDP)

The TDP is available to Active Duty dependents, Reserve/National Guard Service Members and their dependents. TDP is a premium based program that allows sponsors to select coverage for themselves and/or their eligible dependents. Current TDP enrollment and monthly premium information can be found on the TDP Web site (external link) or by calling 1-888-622-2256.

After Title 10 Active Duty:

If you become Active Guard Reserve (AGR) and/or a technician working fulltime for the Minnesota National Guard or Reserve, you may inquire about the TRICARE benefits below:

  • TRICARE Standard - a cost-share program with yearly deductibles and co-pays.

  • TRICARE Extra - a cost-share program with yearly deductibles and co-pays like TRICARE Standard; however the beneficiary saves 5% over TRICARE Standard.

  • TRICARE Prime/Prime Remote (TPR) - has a maximum allowable charge with no yearly deductible, no cost-share and no co-pays, except for pharmacy for dependents.

  • TRICARE Walk-in Service - Monday - Friday from 7:30am - 4:30pm located at 2626 East 82nd St. in Bloomington, MN.
