Apple Valley Yellow Ribbon NetworkThe community of Apple Valley is compirsed of a great newtork of volunteers supporting military families. On March 30, 2012, the Apple Valley Yellow Ribbon Network was proclaimed Yellow Ribbon by Gov. Mark Dayton at a proclamation ceremony in Lakeville.
Their accomplishments include having helped serve more than three thousand steak dinners at the Serving Our Troops event in St. Paul in February 2012.
Among other community efforts to support Servicemembers and military families firmly in place, including providing meals to families of deployed Servicemembers, Apple Valley police are trained in the reintegration of returning Servicemembers. The Yellow Ribbon business community has committed to partnering with their local WorkForce Center to assist veterans in finding employment within the community.
The Network also worked with city officials on special cases within the community when veterans have needed special support in solving difficult, personal issues. They've helped families with deployed personnel by providing home maintenance support.
Getting the word out to all groups in the community to provide awareness of the Yellow Ribbon Networks is also a focus. The Network has a rapidly growing list of contacts and continue to support current community activites as well as attempt to create new ones. If members haven't heard of the Apple Valley Yellow Ribbon Network and its outreach efforts, they soon will.
