Brooklyn Park Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Network
The Brooklyn Park Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Network got their start in 2011 as part of the city's larger Community Engagement Initiative.
The Steering Committee has adopted the local unit that calls the Brooklyn Park Armory home - A Co. 134th Brigade Support Battalion. Before being proclaimed, the Network had already helped in the unit's Welcome Home, Family Day and Freedom Salute events. The Network is also proud of the relationships they have made with the various Yellow Ribbon Companies in Brooklyn park as well as working with the Minnesota Military Family Assistance Center and VA Vet Center, both with locations in Brooklyn Park.
To create awareness and build relationships, Brooklyn Park Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Network has been visible at many local events and was even named Grand Marshalls of the Brooklyn Park Tater Daze Parade in 2012.
Brooklyn Park was proclaimed a Yellow Ribbon City on Sept. 30, 2012, by Minnesota Adjutant General Maj. Gen. Richard C. Nash, Sen. Amy Klobuchar and Congressman Eric Paulson.
