Forest Lake Yellow Ribbon
The Forest Lake Yellow Ribbon program has been executed with the combined efforts of the community, local businesses, city and public safety officials, schools, churches, the medical community and veteran organizations as well as community volunteers. In 2012, the network came together to help local military families with home maintenance, snow plowing, coordinating special needs support and hosting a Christmas party for the family of a deployed single mother with two teenage daughters. Additionally, Forest Lake Yellow Ribbon's website will always be a source for military families and veterans to get assistance with their needs.
During the summer of 2012, the network was honored to have a current military family represent their Yellow Ribobn program by riding in the Independence Day parade. The community was then brought together for a Military Appreciation Picnic with fun and games for everyone.
Forest Lake Yellow Ribbon was proclaimed Yellow Ribbon at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Richfield, on Oct. 10, 2012, in a ceremony attended by Secretary of State Mark Richie and Minnesota Adjutant General Maj. Gen. Richard C. Nash.
