Rock County Beyond the Yellow Ribbon
The communities of Rock County, proclaimed July 27, 2012, have a long history of supporting the military. It is certainly a sight to see as they line the streets with yellow ribbons to welcome home returned Servicemembers.
As the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 34th Red Bull Infantry Division prepped for deployment at Ft. McCoy, Wisc, Rock County found out that Soldiers could see their families one more time before leaving for deployment. The committee donated buses to bring the Soldiers home for a quick visit before deploying. During deployments, they also show their support. In 2011, they sent a 1,000-foot letter to Kuwait and have sent care packages on Veterans' Day, Valentine's Day and Christmas.
The network looks forward to hosting events to bring together military families and to develop a local 'Events and Benefits' monthly posting, so veterans and military families can be aware of ways to be active within their community. This Yellow Ribbon Network knows the value of joining veterans and military families together to support each other.
