Social group for children of different ages who have or are going through the deployment experience. Supplies support to kids in a fun, informal atmosphere where they can connect with other kids who understand what they are going through.

Military Family Care Initiative

The MFCI is a web-based program designed to help military families during times of deployment. The Initiative unites community organizations and businesses with military families to provide simple volunteer services and discounted services to the families of military personnel during times of separation.

Military Veteran Family Support

The MVFS offers support and addresses the needs of Servicemembers' families throughout the deployment and reintegration process. The program also promotes awareness within the community about the many families that need continuing support after deployment.

Minneapolis VA

Offers transition assistance, case management and outreach services to all veterans who have served in combat since Nov. 11, 1998. Also provides support to Servicemembers and their families, individualized care, professional and short-term counseling and much more.

Minnesota County Veterans Service Officers

Each Minnesota county has a Minnesota CVSO who is dedicated to serving veterans. These CVSO offices advise and assist all veterans and their dependents with state and federal benefits, to include:

  • Provide information on veterans benefits
  • Assist in the application process for state and federal benefits
  • Facilitate the referral process to appropriate outside agencies
  • Help obtain relevant military records
  • Coordinate transportation to local VA Medical Centers

Minnesota Department of Natural Resources

Offers several discounts and programs for Servicemembers like free, one-day Minnesota State Park vehicle permits, hunting licenses and lotteries, firearms safety training and more.

Servicemembers often have questions about their Minnesota income tax obligations. The Minnesota Department of Revenue offers many resources on credits and tax relief and general information for military personnel.

Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs

Assists Minnesota’s 410,000 veterans and their dependents to obtain the benefits and services provided by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs.

Minnesota Military Appreciation Fund

Nonprofit and nonpartisan fund set up by businesses and community leaders to show Servicemembers how much they are appreciated. Cash grants are provided to all Servicemembers that have deployed to combat areas and to families of Servicemembers who are killed in action.

Minnesota Military Family Foundation

The MMFF is a community-supported fund that distributes money through grants and loans to military families of deployed Servicemembers in need of financial assistance.

Minnesota Military Radio Hour

A weekly look at the issues surrounding Minnesota Servicemembers, families and employers on 100.3 FM, KTLK. The show airs for one hour on Sundays, 7-8 a.m.

Minnesota National Guard

Under state jurisdiction and can be used by the Governor to assist the state during disasters and other state emergencies. More than 14,000 Soldiers and Airmen in the Minnesota National Guard are currently serving at home and abroad, answering the call and serving in support of state and country.

Scope includes individual and family counseling, financial counseling, debt management, addiction assessments and referral, disability services and in-home counseling to members of the armed forces and their families.

Program available to Minnesota military children for their upcoming school year by providing them with the school supplies needed for a successful year.

Humanitarian organization led by volunteers and guided by its Congressional Charter and the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross Movement. Provide relief to victims of disaster and help people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies.

Southern Support Group
an informative sharing group for spouses, fiancés or fiancées of Servicemembers traveling the path of deployment and reintegration. Reintegration is a personal process that does not end at a particular time. Meetings are held at 6:30 p.m. every third Tuesday of the month at Hosanna Lutheran in Lakeville.

Support Our Troops License Plates

Support Our Troops license plates feature a bald eagle in front of an American flag, enabling everyone to display their appreciation for Servicemembers and their families. The plates cost $18.50 plus an annual tax-deductible contribution of $30, or applicants may choose to make a larger donation. The proceeds are split between the Department of Military Affairs for financial support of military families and the Department of Veteran Affairs for veterans outreach, grants to veterans service organizations and rehabilitation programs.

Youth Medal program

Acknowledging the children of Minnesota Servicemembers who have been deployed. The goal is to present each child with a medal in recognition and appreciation for the sacrifices the child has made during deployment. The child does not wear a uniform, but they serve too!
